Keeper setting

I am reading the book Keeper by Mal Peet. I choose this book because I too was once a soccer goalie. I have read some really good pages about the setting of the goalies hometown. His name is Gato and he lives deep in the jungle isolated from the outside world. As far as he knew there were only two things that he knew about in the world, soccer and cutting down trees.

His town is far from any other civilization and was practically build overnight. All the homes are made from white blocks and a tin roof and most of the time they are very crowded. Their is a red dirt road that comes to the town from somewhere very far away and after passing the town goes into the jungle. The main vehicles that use the road are the log carriers to pick up all the logs that the people have cut down. In the town people would crowd around the bar because it had a TV which was very rare for that area. Then after the game all the people will go into the town square which is a field of grass shaped like a soccer field and no matter the score will show off their tricks, have games, and pretend they are the different players. The town is truly a soccer crazed town.
