Keeper

I have just picked out the new book Keeper by Mal Peet. For those of you who are wondering what a keeper is, its the same position in soccer as a goalie. In the sport of soccer you have 11 on the field at all times 10 of them use their feet to dribble the ball and try to score a goal. The problem is theres one person who doesn't play be the rules for the other 10 players, and that would be the keeper. The keeper in any game trys to block all the shots from the other team to prevent them from making a goal and can use any part of their body to do so as long as their in the 18-yard box. That position can be very powerful if used properly.
Then my book comes into play, the reason I want to read this book is because I used to play keeper and still do occasionally when my team doesn't have someone who knows how to play the position. When I first started out in goal I did really well because I was so tall, but then I took it to the next level. During 6th through 8th grade I really focused only at becoming a better keeper through training camps ands extra practice, I became a very crucial piece of my team. The importance of a good keeper can't be stressed enough. If the team has a good keeper then the other team can be as good as they want but the keeper will block all or most of the shots, but if the team has a bad keeper than even the worst of shots can result in a goal. Therefore i really want to read this book to see what the keeper can and can't do and to see if he has struggles and how it plays out.
